Next Step

Well we went and saw mom's orthopedist yesterday and he had good and bad news for us. It seems that two of the three bones are healing (good news) but one is not and it has moved. Looks like she'll be having surgery and two screws in her left ankle. She isn't thrilled and a little worried; but who wouldn't be.

Well Greg & I are taking a little vacation this weekend and going to Boise, Idaho on Friday through Tuesday. We are so excited to get away and have some time together. We are taking our dogs and we have a friend that will be helping with mom. Plus she'll have all the aides and PT guys there throughout the week.

Surgery won't be until the week after next because mom has to be off certain medications for a week before she can have surgery anyways. The doctor was saying that it would be a two inch incision and that she should be just as mobile as she is now after the surgery. I hope he's right. Mom has been doing so well and therapy has been so good for her. She feels like that it has helped her a lot in getting her mobile and bringing strength back. Going up stairs is a bit challenging but going down is pretty easy for her she says. I think it has been very helpful to have therapy coming. They even had nurses come out and do blood work and IV's without mom having to leave the house; which is a blessing as there is snow and ice everywhere.
